Closings and Delays

NO SCHOOL and DELAYED OPENING INFORMATION 

It is the School Committee’s policy to close schools when the weather conditions are so severe as to make it a safety concern for the buses and for children walking to and from school.  When a decision has been made to CANCEL or DELAY the opening of school, parents will receive an automated message from our Connect-Ed telephone messaging system.  Announcements will also be broadcast on the following TV and radio stations:

 

Channel 4 TV News & WBZ Radio 1030 AM

Channel 5 TV News - Announcements are Posted HERE

Channel 7 TV News & WRKO Radio 680 AM

Channel 25 TV News WFXT

 

Please do not call the Fire or Police Departments for information regarding school cancellations.


Delayed Opening Schedule

Please note that when a decision has been made to delay the opening of school, schools may open with either a 90 minute (one and 1/2 hour)  or a two-hour delay. 


In the event of a 90 minute delay, schools will open as follows: 

            MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL (Gr. 6-12):        School begins at 9:00 AM                    

            ELEMENTARY (Gr. K-5):                           School begins at 10:10 AM


In the event of a two hour delay, schools will open as follows:

            MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL (Gr. 6-12):        School begins at 9:30 AM                    

            ELEMENTARY (Gr. K-5):                           School begins at 10:40 AM


MORNING EXTENDED DAY WILL BE CANCELLED WHEN SCHOOL IS DELAYED.

BUS SERVICE IS DELAYED BY THE SAME AMOUNT AS THE SCHOOL DELAY.  


           PRESCHOOL:

                                                Morning (AM):          CANCELLED

                                                Full Day:                     Classes begin at 10:30 AM (11 AM for two hour delay)

         

DISMISSAL for ALL grades will be at the regular times.
